Teenage sensation Miley Cyrus has waved goodbye to Hannah Montana after the shows finale aired last night.
The show, which began in 2006 on Disney Channel, followed the life of an ordinary teenage girl who lived a secret double life as a popstar. In 2009 the series has also been made into two films, as well as going on tour. The show was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Programme from 2007 to 2010.
Eighteen year old Miley Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billey Ray Cyrus, who also played her on-screen father, performed all of the shows music.
Cyrus signed to Hollywood Records in 2007 to peruse a solo career and has also been involved in the film industry.
After providing the voice of Penny in the animation film Bolt in 2008 Cyrus won Best Original song at the Golden Globe Awards for her single I Thought I Lost you, which became the films soundtrack.
In 2009 Cyrus’ track Party in the U.S.A was a great success, followed by her Can’t Be Tamed album in 2010. Last year Cyrus also appeared alongside numerous UK and American music stars in the making of Everybody Hurts, a charity single in aid of the Haiti Earthquake. Her single The Climb was used as the X Factor winners single in 2009 when Joe McElderry made it to number two in the UK singles chart.
The youngster is currently set to star in two more films LOL: Laugh Out Loud, a remake of a French comedy and So Undercover, an action comedy film.
