The Rolling Stones played one of the biggest rock concerts of all time on Saturday (18.02.06) - playing to more than one million fans in Brazil.The band, fronted by 62-year-old Mick Jagger, played for two hours on the Copacabana Beach, in Rio De Janeiro, blazing through 20 songs, including 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' and '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction'.During the show, Jagger, who has a Brazilian son, ad-libbed comments in Portuguese, to the delight of the crowd.At one point, he wore a white shirt with the Brazilian flag and the words "Brasil" and "Rio de Janeiro."Veteran rockers Sir Mick, Ronnie Wood, 58, Keith Richards, 62, and Charlie Watts, 64, played mostly older hits, with a few songs from their latest album, 'A Bigger Bang'.It was the first time the band had played for free in Brazil, where few people can afford to see top international acts.The authorities in Rio de Janeiro brought in 6,000 police and 600 fire-fighters to control the fans, some of whom had camped on the beach for a week to get a good view.

Civil defence officials said nearly 500 people received minor medical treatment during and after the show.

The band could earn as much as

£10m for the concert, through TV and movie rights.
