Ting Tings' BRITs Respect

The Ting Tings insist the BRIT Awards deserve more respect.

Katie White - one half of the British pop duo - is a huge fan of the annual music event and thinks artists who believe they are too cool for the event should stay at home.

Katie, 25, said: "We grew up loving the BRITs and we have been watching old clips to get us in the mood. I don't want to get into a slagging match so I won't mention names. But last year it was a shame some artists begrudgingly attended. I'm a big fan of pop and some rowdy behaviour is important.

"But it's a bit stingy to accept all the free champagne and accolades and then just spend the rest of the night taking the p**s out of everyone else. Don't go if you don't want to enjoy it."

The That's Not My Name' singer and her bandmate Jules De Martino are up for two prizes for Best British Album for 'We Started Nothing' and Best British Breakthrough Act.

If they had to pick one gong to take home, Katie would leave with the Breakthrough Act accolade, for which they are up against Adele, Duffy, The Last Shadow Puppets and Scouting For Girls.

She said: "That's the most important one for us because we haven't been around long. But I don't hold out much hope."
