Tom Cruise has axed his sister as his publicist, after a summer of negative publicity. The Hollywood actor has replaced Lee Anne DeVette with veteran Hollywood PR guru Paul Bloch, who has previously represented Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone. Tom said of his sister, who will now just handle his charity work: "Lee Anne has done a wonderful job" However, insiders claim the past year has been a "PR disaster" for the handsome star. First, he was criticised over his romance with pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes, with some people suggesting it was nothing more than a publicity stunt to promote his movie 'War of the Worlds'.Then, Tom was slated for airing his views about psychiatry and publicly slamming actress Brooke Shields for using prescription drugs to battle post-natal depression. However, it has not all been bad news for the actor - as well as expecting a baby with Katie, he recently received an award for becoming the biggest ever donor to the Church of Scientology. The star, a devout follower of the controversial sect, was presented with the Diamond Meritorious Award for donating a staggering £2million to the organisation.
Katie joined him as he collected the accolade at a Scientology gala at the cult's UK headquarters in East Grinstead, where the couple were given a standing ovation from the crowd, which included 'Pulp Fiction' star John Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston.
