Uma Thurman's Ring regret

Uma Thurman can't watch the 'Lord of the Rings' films because she had to turn down a leading role in the trilogy.The actress is still disappointed she couldn't take the part because she had just given birth to daughter Maya-Ray.She said: "Yeah, I was asked. I wish I had done it. I had a small child at the time, and I couldn't go away for a year. I was just too attached to home. It just caught me at the wrong moment. Oh, I truly wish I could've been able to take that plunge, and maybe I should have, but I just couldn't at the time."The 'Lord of the Rings' film trilogy, adapted from the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, went on to become one of the most successful franchises ever, winning a total of 17 Oscars. 'Lord of the Rings: Return of the King' currently stands as the second largest grossing film ever, with worldwide box office takings estimated at £566 million. Thurman is currently promoting her latest film 'The Life Before Her Eyes', which premiered in New York last night (17.04.08).
