Vanessa Hudgens found kissing Gaelan Connell "awkward".

The actress - who is dating her 'High School Musical' co-star Zac Efron - admits she found it peculiar locking lips with her 'Bandslam' castmate for one of the scenes they had together.

She said: "The kissing scene was fine. It's just part of the job. It's not like, 'Oh that was so romantic'. In reality it is so awkward."

Although the couple are affectionate with one another away from filming, Zac shares his girlfriend's unease with smooching on screen.

He recently said:  "Screen kisses are definitely not as romantic as they look. It looks like a perfect situation but what the audience don't realise is that just off camera is a bunch of stinky, smelly, crew guys holding up lights and yelling, 'Action!' "

It's not like, 'Oh that was so romantic'
