Zac Efron Pulls Out of Footloose

High School Musical heart-throb Zac Efron, has backed out of starring in a remake of the eighties classic dance movie Footloose.

The 21-year old was set to take on the role of Ren, made famous by Hollywood star Kevin Bacon in 1984 but decided against the idea because he wanted a change from musicals.

Makers of the movie, which will be written by Jon Hartmere and directed by Kenny Ortega, are now racking their brains to see who else could fill Bacon’s shoes.

Here’s a list of people we think could be good contenders. Let us know what you think.

 
1. Jamie Bell – he already proved he’s got what it takes when he took on the lead role in Billy Elliot. Now all grown up, the 22-year old could certainly be a good choice.

2. Alex Pettyfer – Star of Stormbreaker, the handsome 18-year old would no doubt be a hit with the ladies.

3. Justin Timberlake – Well he’s certainly got the moves so could the 28 year old Sexy Back singer be what the producers are looking for?

4. Chad Michael Murray – this could be a great chance for the One Tree Hill actor to boost his profile.

5. Ray Quinn - Ok, so we may be clutching at straws here but the 20 year old has already proved how skilled he is on Dancing On Ice. Could a potential Hollywood career be on the horizon?
