Former Sugababes star Amelle Berrabah has made her pop return following her divorce with a song about a lesbian romance.

The 31-year-old songstress separated from her husband Marcio Sousa Rosa last November and she's now collaborated with Norwegian singer K-Syran on the racy track entitled 'Testify'.

The song tells the story of a bond that blossoms between two girls, who turn to each other after their respective marriages crumble, and the lyrics include: "When your man lets you down, would you kiss your girlfriend?"

K-Syran wrote lines and revealed Amelle jumped at the chance to sing with her.

K-Syran shared: "Amelle was searching for a new single and she felt the message of this track grabbed her from the start. 'Testify' can be read in many ways. Every woman will find it touches her differently."

She continued: "It's the ambiguity of 'Testify' that leaves us girls with that cheeky smile. Take the message of 'She's my lover' anyway you like, that was my intention when I wrote this track."

Amelle wed Marcio in a low-key ceremony in Mauritius just six days after Marcio popped the question during a trip to the exotic island in October 2014.

However, the 'Never Leave You' singer split from Marcio just 12 months later after becoming frustrated with his behaviour amid claims she "struggled to recognise" him as the "same man she married".

Amelle's single 'Testify' will be released on Intimacy Records on 6 May 2016.
