Amy Winehouse's mother Janis Winehouse says her daughter "reeked of alcohol" and struggled to communicate the last time she saw her alive.

Amy's mother found "broken bottles of white wine" lying around the singer's house in Camden, north London, the last time she saw her alive and claims her daughter was so drunk that she was only able to make it downstairs courtesy of her bodyguard Andrew Morris.

Writing in new book 'Loving Amy', Janis explained: "As Andrew turned the corner, I saw Amy was slung over his shoulder in a fireman's lift.

"It was obvious he'd washed her and dressed her and tried to put her beehive on to make her look respectable."

What's more, she said that the 27-year-old singer "reeked of alcohol", which was "coming out of every pore" as she struggled to put coherent sentences together.

Janis added: "I couldn't sit there and watch her like that."

Amy was found dead on July 23, 2011, with an inquest later confirming that she died of accidental alcohol poisoning.

'Loving Amy' is set to be published on September 11, with the proceeds going to The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up by Janis and works to discourage young people from misusing drugs.
