Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's were thrilled that their wedding last weekend in France exactly how they had planned.

The couple tied the knot last Saturday (23.08.14) in France in front of a small group of family and friends, and the newly-weds were thrilled their big day went according to plan and the nuptials remained a secret until they announced the news yesterday (28.08.14).

A source told Us Weekly: "This was a total surprise, but something they were obviously planning on doing when the time was right. Everyone is happy for them. It was small and family and friends only, just like they wanted. I'm happy they pulled it off. We all consider them married anyway, but now it's official."

Angelina, 39, and Brad, 50, aren't the only ones overjoyed about becoming husband and wife and their close friend George Clooney - who is set to marry Amal Alamuddin next month - is pleased for his pals.

He said: "How great is that?! I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family."

The loved-up pair exchanged their vows in a small chapel at Chateau Miraval and made sure their six children Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and five-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, all had important roles to carry out on their big day.

Maddox and Pax, walked the actress down the aisle, the couple's daughters Zahara and Vivienne threw petals at the beautiful bride and Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers for their parents.

The pair fell in love while shooting the 2005 action movie 'Mr and Mrs. Smith' together.

Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston - whom divorced in 2005 - at the time, but he has always denied cheating on her with Angelina.

Meanwhile, this was Angelina's third time down the aisle as she was previously married to Johnny Lee Miller until 1999 and Billy Bob Thornton until 2003.
