Billie Piper was questioned by police after her car collided with a cyclist, leaving him with serious injuries.

The former 'Doctor Who' actress was making a U-turn in her black Volkswagen Golf car on a steep section of road in the King's Cross, London, area when she came into contact with the 16-year-old cyclist, who was knocked to the ground in the accident.

Billie's sons, Winston, five, and Eugene, two, where in the back of the vehicle at the time, and she was believed to have been going at a very low speed of less than five miles per hour when the incident occurred last Tuesday (30.07.14)

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 15.53 to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a bike on York Way.

"We sent a responder by car and an ambulance crew to the scene. We treated a boy reported to be 16 years old for a shoulder injury. He was taken to University College Hospital."

A witness had dialled emergency services to the scene. Billie - who is married to actor Laurence Fox - was questioned by police before being allowed to continue on her way to perform in the play 'Great Britain' at the National Theatre. However, she was so shaken by the incident, her understudy, Jo Dockery, took her role that night instead.

Police have confirmed an investigation is now taking place into the incident.
