The 'Pretty Girls' singer is reportedly being lined up to present the first award of the evening at the star-studded music ceremony in Los Angeles, reports E! News.

It's claimed producers included Britney in their latest seating chart, leading to speculation she'll appear.

Miley Cyrus will host this year's awards show, which will see Kanye West presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award. The prize has previously been awarded to Britney and Beyonce.

Performances on the night will come from The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Williams and Justin Bieber.

Britney recently admitted her desire for a movie career.

She said: "I would love to [do more movies]. I could dream. I would love to be a movie star."

While she has no movie work in the pipeline, the 33-year-old star will be making an appearance on 'Jane the Virgin' and she is delighted as she is such a big fan of the show.

She told E! News: "I think the writing is so simple and so endearing and it's funny!

"I started watching the show before it got really big and I was telling everyone about it. They were all like, 'What are you talking about?' and then it got really big."
