Carmen Electra says her return to music has been "fulfilling for her heart and soul".

Carmen Electra is busy working on songs for a new album and has revealed her return to music has been a "fun and fulfilling" experience.

The 41-year-old star began her career as a singer when she was signed by Prince to his label, Paisley Park Records, in 1991 before making the switch to acting when she landed one of her most famous roles playing lifeguard Lani McKenzie in 'Baywatch' in 1997.

Carmen is currently working on songs for a new album and has already released single 'WERQ', which is available on iTunes, and she insists returning to her musical beginnings has been an affirming experience.

She told BANG Showbiz: "It's been really fun getting back into the studio. I still have a way to go, but it's been such an interesting journey and very fulfilling to me in my heart and my soul. Dancing and performing is what I love to do the most and throughout the years I've performed with different groups for the love of just being on stage.

"It's been an awesome year facing some fears, it's a little scary doing it by yourself because it's you, it's your name, but I've had so much support. Between the support and how making music makes me feel inside I'm going to continue and I'm so excited about future music and performances.

Carmen - who was a lead member of the Pussycat Dolls when they were a burlesque dance troupe - is preparing for several live performances of 'WERQ' as well as other songs including 'I Like It Loud' and she can't wait to work out the sexy dance routines with her choreographer.

She revealed: "I'm getting ready to go to Germany and right after Germany we're going to start rehearsals and that's one of my favourite things to do, to get together with my girls, my dancers, our choreographer and start working and getting the show together. I haven't performed 'WERQ' live yet so we have a lot of work to do for the next show in Toronto, but I love it. We've become a family and spend lots of hours together, learning and having fun. I'm looking forward to it."

The 'Scary Movie 4' star is very excited about people hearing her new music and insists she has no intention of stopping now she has started singing again.

Carmen said: "This has all been a big change in my life and it's really fun, I really love it, I love it so much and I'm not going to stop."
