Cate Blanchett at Blue Jasmine UK premiere

Cate Blanchett doesn't care about materialistic things.

The stunning actress has earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of a rich New York City housewife in Woody Allen's new movie 'Blue Jasmine', but unlike her designer label-loving character, Cate insists she finds joy in life by being a mother and wife.

Cate - who has sons Dashiell, 11, Roman, nine, and Ignatius, five, with husband Andrew Upton - said: "I suppose the difference between me and Jasmine is my life is based on things that are fundamentally real - my relationship, my relationship with my children. I think the big regret in Jasmine is that she never did anything with her life. There's so much self-loathing in her, and I find that quite moving."

The 44-year-old star's powerhouse performance in the film has made her an early contender to win the Best Actress prize at the Oscars next year, but the Australian actress remains humble about her chances.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the UK premiere of 'Blue Jasmine' in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday night (17.09.13), she said: "I have no idea [if I'll win]. It's really nice to be in a film that people are going to see. You don't make them to sort of gather dust. I'm really thrilled that it's done well in the States. Having primarily been making theatre for the last six years, it's nice to be out with a film."

Cate was joined at the premiere by co-star Sally Hawkins.
