Claire Danes is "infatuated" with her son.
The actress is so besotted with her 11-month-old son Cyrus - who she has with her husband Hugh Dancy - that she can't focus on anything else when he's around, and instead spends her time gazing at him adoringly.
She told Interview magazine: "I guess it's closest to being infatuated with a lover or something, but it's not that. It's cellular. So yeah, that the love for your child is physical was a big surprise.
"I can't not look at him if he's anywhere nearby, because there's not competition. I can't read. I can't watch a show. I can't do anything but stare at him doing nothing."
The 34-year-old star wouldn't be able to juggle motherhood with her acting career without the help of actor husband Dancy, who rehearses lines with her when she's on the move.
Claire said: "My husband is also on a television show now, so we're always running lines with each other. We'll run lines with each other on the phone. I run lines with him in taxicabs."
However, the blonde admitted she didn't enjoy reprising her role as bipolar disorder sufferer Carrie Mathison so soon after giving birth and revealed she would like to take a break from the part for a while.
Claire explained: "It was exhausting but also exhilarating. I had just come out of my mommy cocoon and my cushy, mushy love planet. So entering that mania at that point was not as enjoyable.
"I would really like to play another character to deviate from Carrie for a second just because I'm starting to think that acting is this, and while this is one of the most fulfilling expressions of acting that I've found, it's not why I do it. It's not it.
"I think I'd appreciate her even more if I could take a little vacation from her and inhabit somebody else for a while."
