The 'Single Ladies' singer provided uncredited guest vocals on the group's latest single, and though she'll be joining them on stage at the sporting spectacular on Sunday (07.02.16), it won't be on that track as the band feel it is too new.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (04.02.16), frontman Chris Martin said: "It only just came out, so I don't think it would be quite right. We love Beyoncé's music. She's one of our all-time favourites, and she's one of the greatest performers I've ever witnessed.

Everyone who does this show knows it's the biggest honour."

The 'Viva La Vida' singer - who has daughter Apple, 11, and son Moses, nine, with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow - got his youngest child involved with his preparations for the show by asking him to design his shoes.

He said: "My son [Moses] designed my shoes. I asked him, 'Please, could you make me some Super Bowl shoes?' He made two pairs. One is for this and the other is for the Super Bowl."

The band - Chris, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion - aim to "celebrate" past Super Bowl shows in their performance and hope their 12-minute set is as "memorable" as other acts' appearances have been.

Chris explained: "We've watched all of the other halftime shows many times, and most of them are fantastic.

I think we're going to try to celebrate those other years and hopefully make a show as memorable as some of our favourites. We decided we wanted to make it about togetherness, acceptance and the things we believed in. Then we called the right guests, so we know that we have great people joining us."

Coldplay will perform at the prestigious NFL championship final between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos on Sunday, and as well as Beyonce, they will also be joined on stage by Bruno Mars.
