The 47-year-old actor admitted he turned prankster on the set of the latest James Bond movie in order to relieve the boredom of long days filming and couldn't resist playing some particularly whiffy jokes on Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux.

He admitted at AOL Build: "You do whatever you can.

"The fact of it is, we do very long days -- I'm not complaining -- we do very long days, and if you've been on a movie set, it's kind of intense and often very boring, so you just have a laugh."

Daniel - who is married to Rachel Weisz - regards his co-stars as being "like family" because they have to spend so much time together.

However, he added: "You love them and you hate them."

Despite portraying 007 in four movies, Daniel recently admitted he hates watching himself on screen.

Asked if he likes playing the British Secret Service Agent, he admitted: "I hate watching myself on screen, but I love playing James Bond."

The actor also insisted he has no interest in who takes over from him as the next 007.

He said: "I don't care as long as they're good."
