Daniel Radcliffe believes the best relationships develop when you're dating one of your friends.

Daniel Radcliffe believes the strongest of relationship develop when you've spent many years being friends first.

The 25-year-old hunk insists the strongest of romances take place when you've spent many years being the best of pals before falling in love with one another.

Speaking to the Toronto Star newspaper, he said: "I think the best relationships are when you're going out with your best friend. My mum and dad are best friends and they were friends before they got married ... and then they've been married for 30 years and they are best friends and that's why it works."

However, the 'Harry Potter' star is aware that it's a big risk dating someone you've had a strong friendship with because it could ruin the connection you once shared.

He explained: "I definitely think everyone has been through this moment of do I risk jeopardising the friendship in an effort to push this forward. 'Is she interested in me?' It's a minefield. It's a scary moment."

Meanwhile, Daniel is currently dating his 'Kill You Darlings' co-star Erin Darke, 29, and loves the fact that she is as big a fan of NFL as he is able to discuss the game with her.

He previously said: "She's an obsessive Detroit Redwings fan - when your girlfriend can talk s**t about sports better than the men she's doing that with, that's pretty sexy."
