The 24-year-old model has seen her profile expand enormously over the last week, after she was announced as the cover star of the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and Danielle has now taken to her Instagram account to thank her supporters for helping her to reach the milestone.

Alongside a photograph of herself, Danielle wrote: "It was all a Dream... Now it's my reality Thanks to my 100k followers for all the love and support! (sic)"

Despite this, Danielle recently admitted that she almost passed up her big opportunity, because she missed her flight for her Sports Illustrated photoshoot.

She recently explained: "I missed my flight to the shoot. They don't have many flights going in [to] the Bahamas. So, I had to wait until the next morning to fly in.

"When I got off the plane, I had to go straight into hair and makeup and to shooting. Honestly, I was like, 'Okay, I have to make this up. I have to prove myself. I have to give it everything I have because [not] everybody get[s] a chance to shoot in Sports Illustrated, and I had the nerve to miss my flight. That's crazy.'"

Fortunately for Danielle, alternative plans were soon made and she's now joined Tyra Banks and Beyonce as one of only three black women who have appeared on the cover of the iconic publication.

The Compton-born star added: "I was kind of disappointed in myself, but I made it work - and I'm on the cover now."
