David Beckham made £50.8 million last year, after multiple endorsement deals with brands that included H&M and Adidas, leading to the star now taking home more than he did when he was on the football pitch.

This hefty sum is £15 million more than his highest previous earnings of £34.6 million in 2012, and sends David to second on the Forbes' list of the highest-pair retired athletes, just behind basketball icon Michael Jordan.

Retiring from football in 2013 after playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid and being the captain of England's national football team throughout his career, he's also seen deals with Coty and HAIG Club whisky.

It was recently revealed that David paid himself £7.5 million last year whilst his wife Victoria Beckham took home just £750,000.

Victoria was paid by her Moody Productions business whilst accounts filed by David's firm Footwork Productions saw him take £20,500 a day.

David and Victoria's son Romeo also helped to boost sales for luxury brand Burberry after starring in a four-minute advertisement for the brand, seeing the sales of their coats, bags and other garments rising by 14% in the US, Europe and the Middle Easy to £600 million.
