The 'Joneses' actress says it is "thrilling" to watch her eldest daughter, who is currently competing on 'Dancing With the Stars,' try to follow in her footsteps in Hollywood.

Asked about the 26-year-old actress' success, the 52-year-old star said: "It is thrilling! I am so proud of her and excited for people to be seeing what I have seen since she was a little girl. She is incredibly talented, and I love seeing her light shine!"

But Demi claims Rumer and her other daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis, Scout, 23, and Tallulah, 20, haven't always had it easy and were bullied as teenagers.

She told Us Weekly magazine: "No child should be subjected to that type of judgment or criticism, especially based on their looks...As a parent, all you can do is love them and keep loving them until they love themselves."

Rumer admits couldn't help comparing herself to Demi when she was younger.

She explained: "I compared myself to her. I would go, 'My mom wears smaller jeans than me! Oh, God. Maybe I'm not skinny enough.' Every girl looks up to her mother, but my mom was larger-than-life and I felt I could never be like her. I just didn't feel like we were even the same caliber.

"Growing up, I was kind of a nerd. I had a hard time connecting with my peers. I was very much bullied my entire life. I was just so insecure with who I was that I kept trying to change myself to fit into what I thought everyone wanted.

"I'm really thankful that I had my sisters to lean on. They are my best friends."
