Dolly Parton believes her goddaughter Miley Cyrus has sexualised her image to prove a point but will snap out of it eventually.

The hitmaker has defended the '21-year-old singer's controversial behaviour over the past year and insists it's all part of her plan to "prove a point".

Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on the BBC Radio 1's 'Breakfast Show' today (04.07.14), Dolly - who is Miley's godmother - said: "I believe she's gonna make the right choices, she's had to go a little drastic now and then just to prove her point, but I've got a lot of faith in her and I'm hoping she does great 'cos she is gifted and special.

Miley Cyrus will come good

"You know her comedic timing is very good, so she's got all the goods - I'm just hoping she uses all of it well."

The 68-year-old country thinks the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker - who has become sexual to destroy her squeaky clean 'Hannah Montana' image - will snap out of her new attitude when the time is right.

She explained: "She's a great talent, Miley, who I've known ever since she was a tiny little baby.

"She's always been smart and quick and she is so gifted and I really, really hope she does great in this world of show business, and I believe she will."
