The 31-year-old professional wrestler was suspended indefinitely by the company on Monday (22.01.18) after it was alleged that he raped a woman late last year, and one day after his suspension, WWE have announced they have axed the star from their line-up.

A statement posted on WWE's website on Tuesday (23.01.18) simply read: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Eric Arndt (Enzo Amore)."

It comes after it was alleged by a woman named only as Philomena that Enzo - real name Eric Arndt - had raped whilst two of his friends let the alleged crime happen on October 19.

She wrote on Twitter: "OKAY..it's been long enough & I have been so so scared to share this. I was raped in mid October by the WWE Enzo Amore (also known as Eric Arden) & Tyler Grosso & TOOPOOR let it happen as accomplices. I was in a mental hospital for 45 days after it. They ARE NOT good people. (sic)"

Philomena also shared screenshots of messages she sent to another Twitter user, in which she claimed the trio, including Enzo, got her "f***ed up" on a cocktail of drugs before assaulting her.

Phoenix Police Department are investigating Philomena's claims, after they confirmed to news outlets that officers responded to a local hospital on October 23 for a call involving a woman who wanted to report a sexual assault.

Shortly after Philomena's claims surfaced, WWE took action and suspended Enzo, as they have a "zero tolerance" policy surrounding sexual assault.

In a statement, they said: "WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault. Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt has been suspended."
