Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling burst into tears after she gave birth to their daughter.

The couple, who have been dating since September 2011, were reportedly overcome with emotion upon welcoming their first child into the world at a Los Angeles hospital on Friday (12.09.14) and are completely besotted with the newborn.

A source close to the proud new parents, who never officially confirmed the 40-year-old actress' pregnancy, told E! News: "It was very emotional for Eva and Ryan. They were both in tears when they saw their daughter for the first time!"

The 'Notebook' actor, 33, secretly escorted his girlfriend and baby girl back to their mansion in Los Feliz over the weekend, where she has been telling visitors "how in love she is" with their little girl.

The insider said: "Eva is so happy she's a mom, their baby girl is perfect! They are at home now with the baby and Eva is feeling great she says.

"She's so good with kids and has been wanting this a really long time. When she found out she was having a girl, she was freaking out. She kind of wanted a girl deep down, but of course just wants a happy and healthy baby! Ryan is saying he is going to be overpowered with girls in the house and is gonna have to be extra manly around the house!

"Everyone is saying the baby looks like Eva and has her features."

The 'Hitch' beauty and heartthrob Ryan, whose relationship was rocked by rumours of a split last year, are now more in love than ever.

The source added: "All her friends love Ryan and Eva together. He tells her how sexy and perfect she is all the time...he really is like Noah in 'The Notebook!' It's kind of an inside joke, but he's really romantic. They are both so happy and in love. They wanted to start a family for a while now."
