The 65-year-old movie mogul's career and reputation has been trashed following an avalanche of sexual harassment and assault accusations made against him by multiple women in the wake of a New York Times expose which documented the allegations against him.

Now, the DGA have confirmed Harvey has been removed from the guild a month after disciplinary proceedings were first filed.

The DGA also removed Weinstein from its website as of Monday (27.11.17), where he was listed as a member of the organisation.

Eight days after launching the proceedings, a statement published by the DGA read: "The DGA has a long-standing practice of not commenting on internal union matters, but has decided to make an exception in this case to acknowledge the filing of charges.

"However, because of due process concerns that are a part of federal requirements for labor unions, the DGA cannot comment further."

Weinstein was also stripped of an honorary degree from the University of Buffalo, this month.

The State University of New York (SUNY) board of trustees voted unanimously - with one abstention - to rescind the accolade granted to the movie mogul in 2000 following his accusations.

The Hollywood producer attended the University at Buffalo from 1969 to 1973 and was awarded the SUNY Doctorate of Humane Letters at a special ceremony in September of 2000.

Harvey - who has denied many of the allegations against him - has had his membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revoked, and he was expelled from the Television Academy - which is behind the Emmy Awards - following the allegations.

What's more, his wife Georgina Chapman - who he has been married to for 10 years - left him, and he has been fired from his position as co-chairman at The Weinstein Company.
