Helen Mirren has revealed she's a huge fan of Miley Cyrus, describing her as a "brilliant, clever girl".

Mirren, 69, hit the headlines last month after performing a twerk at Harvard University's Hasty Pudding theatrical society and says that her impromptu dance was inspired by Miley's twerking because she's a big fan of the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker.

In an interview with The Times newspaper, she said: "I did a chat show with her three or four years ago and I was so impressed with her.

"She's so smart. Brilliant, clever girl. And confident. I was a huge fan immediately. I love her 'f*** you' attitude."

Mirren, who won an Oscar for her role in the 2006 film 'The Queen', says society is gradually moving towards a more liberal attitude towards sex, as reflected by Miley's success.

She explained: "Look at the ancient Greek and Roman villas, and there on the living room wall is a huge picture of two men having sex. So, we are slipping into the Roman attitude.

"The whole thing of porn. I hat porn and I find it disgusting. But on the other hand, maybe the desensitising of us all to that sort of thing is healthy?"

Asked how she's managed to retain her looks, Helen insisted: "I don't do much of anything. People never believe me, but I don't.

"I've done about three Pilates classes and it was great. I should do more."
