The 'Beasts of No Nation' star attended the event at Buckingham Palace in London, England, where he collected his Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) award for his services to drama.

Taking to Twitter and looking dapper in a dark blue suit, he wrote: "Flying the East End flag at Buckingham Palace today!!! OBE Day..... How does the boy look?

Feeling Proppa... :) (sic)"

At the event, the Duke of Cambridge was on hand to present the 43-year-old actor with the honour, whilst his mother watched on very "happily".

Meanwhile, Idris previously admitted it was "beyond special" to be recognised by the royal family for his work in the film and television industry.

He said at the time of the announcement: "Awards and honours come in all shapes and sizes and all as significant as the other but this is beyond special, as it comes from Queen and country and I couldn't be more proud for receiving this right now, what a year ... On me head son!"
