The 'Late Late Show' host thinks the key to the 'Hello' singer's success is that, despite her fame and wealth, she has remained down-to-earth and relatable.

He said: "She is the biggest star on the planet, and yet she's still in the world with us. As a performer, she represents us; so many of the feelings she expresses in her songs are feelings that we all have. She is true to herself and completely authentic."

Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks is another of Adele's high-profile fans.

She gushed: "Adele is major. It's very satisfying to see her success. [Her song] 'When We Were Young' makes me sob. I think she can do anything. And I think she will do everything."

And showbiz veteran Bette Midler also praised Adele, both for her "beautiful" voice and her ability to draw in her audience with funny anecdotes.

She told Vanity Fair magazine: "Adele's voice is so beautiful, so flexible, and she can do anything with it. The main thing is she hits you where you live. She is utterly hilarious and her shows are a riot--not just because of the great music and musicianship but her complete connection with her audience and her ability to make them laugh and then turn around and reduce them to tears."

Producer Rick Rubin, who worked with the 28-year-old star on her album '21' is in awe of her songwriting talent.

He said: "Besides her once-in-a-lifetime voice, Adele has a pure songwriting gift.

"We always discussed how to get the most out of the songs, never to settle.

"All the songs always started with her, sometimes she liked having a collaborator to help get it over the finish line but all her best work comes directly from her."
