The 40-year-old actor - who is known for playing the role of Dawson Leery in the popular show 'Dawson's Creek' from 1998 to 2003 - has revealed he had a dry patch during his work life when he wasn't being cast for "anything", and he was forced to take on any project that came his way.

Speaking openly to the Metro newspaper about his career and the struggles he faced, he said: "There was a moment where things were slower and there weren't as many opportunities, so I had a year of saying yes to everything, anything that sounded interesting or I hadn't done before."

And the blonde-haired hunk even agreed to feature in anything regardless of how "ridiculous" it may have been.

He added: "No matter how ridiculous."

However, James has since changed his ways and become "more choosy" about the roles he takes on.

Speaking previously the American star said: "Now I get to be a bit more choosy about what I do. I can afford to say yes to the things I'm really excited about."
