The 34-year-old actor is thankful for the opportunities that have come his way thanks to his role of kinky businessman Christian Grey and doesn't think some of the projects he's taken on would have been possible without the high-profile raunchy movie series.

He said: "I think it's changed my life and a lot more people know who I am, I guess, as a result of it.

"It opens doors in the industry and I have to be honest here, if you are in a movie that makes over 600 million dollars worldwide at the box office, that helps your career and that means that you can get things like 'The Siege of Jadotville' and 'Anthropoid' made, based on your involvement.

"I wouldn't have been able to do those projects that I was desperate to do, had I not been in a film that made that much money."

While 'Fifty Shades of Grey' attracted a lot of criticism, Jamie - who can again be seen alongside Dakota Johnson in second movie 'Fifty Shades Darker' - isn't too upset because he knows it is impossible to make everyone happy.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "People are entitled to their opinion and there are lots of people who hated it.

"It made a lot of money, but lots of people didn't like it and had objections about me, about Dakota, how it was made, how it looked and what scenes were kept in and what scenes weren't.

"There were loads of people who weren't happy I played Christian Grey. I took a bit of comfort in the fact you are not going to please everyone."

Jamie has two young daughters with wife Amelia Warner and the family lead a very quiet life away from the spotlight.

He said: "Our eldest has started kindergarten and I bring her and pick her up and I get a couple of funny looks but you never know what it is people recognise you for.

"Maybe they think I am someone else. We chose to live a really quiet life. I mean, we open our doors and there's just sheep and lambs.

"If I am in Los Angeles and have to go to premieres and to dinners and fans I feel like a different person and it's so mad."
