The 'Cake' actress - who is married to Justin Theroux - knows Christmas is a very busy time but thinks the best way to stay sane is not to agree to everything.

Asked her tips on staying sane during the holidays, she said: "Don't over-extend yourself too much. There is nothing worse than wearing yourself down during what is already a busy time for everyone. I know sometimes it's hard to not over-commit to friends and family during the holidays but I try to be mindful of it."

The 46-year-old star thinks it's important to take regular vacations in order to recharge.

Speaking to Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop website, she said: "When I'm really wiped out, it's time to go on a trip.

"I have my go-to places in warm climates and sandy beaches like Mexico that really allow me to relax and get back on track.

"I like massages and spa treatments, too - they help if I can't get on a plane and go on vacation."

And Jennifer treasures spending time with her loved ones.

She said: "Spending time with my husband, my dogs, and long-time girlfriends. Those times are sacred to me and I would never give them up."

Though work can keep the former 'Friends' actress away from her 'Leftovers' star husband for long periods of time, they like to make surprise visits to see one another on set.

Asked the best gift she's received, she said: "When my husband surprises me when I'm away working."

And asked the best she's given, she replied: "When I surprise my husband when he is working."
