The 44-year-old actor hasn't yet received the statuette he won at this year's ceremony - for Best Actor in a Television Series, Drama for his portrayal of Don Draper in 'Mad Men' - but has appealed to event bosses not to make the same mistake they did when he won his first prize and they added an additional 'H' to his name.

In a video interview with Vanity Fair, he said: "They spelled my name wrong. Which was also awesome . . . For those watching. Guys, it's J-O-N. Or Jonathan!"

He added: "I haven't gotten the little plaque to stick on the new one yet."

When Jon received his second Golden Globe on January 11, he gave a memorable speech in which he thanked showrunner Matthew Weiner for creating a "horrible" character and picking him to play him.

Speaking to the audience on stage when he accepted the honour, he said: "Thanks to Matthew Weiner who wrote this horrible person [Draper] all the way through to the end of this incredible ride and picked me to play him."

In 2008, there was no formal ceremony due to the Writers Guild of America strike.

Instead, the winners were simply announced at a news conference.
