Julianne Moore says that Meryl Streep was the one who inspired her to become an actress.

Moore has gone on to become one of the biggest Hollywood stars during her acting career, but it was Streep who really inspired her to follow this path.

The actress also revealed that she admired the way that Streep has juggled being an actress with the pressures of family life.

Speaking to Glow magazine, Moore said: "I can remember when Meryl Streep was on the cover of Time magazine when I was in high school, and I said to my dad, 'I think I want to do this.'

"She is just such a great actress. And she's someone who has managed to have a family, a marriage and a career."

Moore is back on the big screen this week as we are introduced to the character of President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 for the first time.

Mockingjay - Part 1 is set to be one of the biggest movies of 2014, and looks set to smash the box office this weekend.

Moore is also being tipped to be a major force in the Oscar race next year for her central performance in Still Alice.

Still Alice is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Lisa Genova, and will see Moore play a woman who is in the early stage of Alzheimer's disease.

Moore is considered to be the frontrunner for the Best Actress Oscar - an award that she has been nominated for in the past but has never won.
