The daughter of model Cindy Crawford and businessman Randy Gerber turned 16 - which is the legal driving age in America - on Sunday (03.09.17), and on Tuesday (05.09.17), she was handed her driver's license after she passed her test.

Kaia quickly took to Instagram to share the happy news with her followers, as she uploaded a snap to her Story - which lasts on the site for 24 hours - of herself holding up her certificate with pride.

She wrote on the picture: "we've got a liscensed driver on our hands (STAY OFF THE ROAD) (sic)"

And Kaia's mother Cindy, 51, also shared the news with her Instagram followers as she posted a picture of a beaming Kaia moments after she received the good news.

Cindy captioned the snap: "Baby driver. Congrats on passing your driver's test @KaiaGerber! (sic)"

That's not the only thing Cindy has done to ring in her daughter's sweet 16 either, as over the weekend, she took to social media again to give her love to the budding model.

She wrote: "Happy 16th birthday @KaiaGerber! Love this pic of us by @PatrickDemarchelier. Your first time in @VogueMagazine, but I'm pretty sure not your last! Hope all your wishes come true - love you always! (sic)"

Whilst Kaia's father Rande added on his Instagram account: "Then and now and always. Happy bday to my sweet 16 yr old girl. (sic)"

Meanwhile, Kaia previously admits she finds it "difficult" juggling her modelling career with her education.

She said: "It's really difficult, because you have a lot of different things going on. I go to school everyday, and that does come first.

"I try to separate my modelling work from my school life because I don't want people to think of me differently or that I am a certain way because of it. I think I do a pretty good job of separating it, I don't really talk about it with my friends. Other than my friends that are part of the industry, and I guess that's different.

"I use my free time for work, but because I love it so much, it doesn't feel like work and I still have fun with it. I don't really have days where I can sit and do nothing."
