The mother-of-five has divided opinion after she decided to go ahead with the cosmetic procedure - that uses a piercing gun to insert studs into the earlobe - on her youngest child Bunny.

Taking to photo-sharing site Instagram, the former glamour model shared a picture of the toddler - who she has with husband Kieran Hayler - to her 850,000 followers and captioned it: "Gorgeous Bunny bops(sic)" along with a string of heart and kiss emojis.

Katie - who also has kids Harvey, 13, Junior, 10, and Princess, eight, from previous relationships and Jett, two, with Kieran - uploaded two more pictures but made no reference to the piercings in her captions, though she added: "Aww Junior and Bunny #family" on one."

Her decision to have the youngster's ears pierced appears to have shocked her fans.

One commented: "You have put holes in your child for vanity and not waited until they are old enough to decide for themselves. This is a selfish decision."

Whilst another simply branded it "Tacky" and "Cruel".

However, some defended the 37-year-old star.

One wrote: "I've got three girls and when my first two were little I had theirs done at six months. They are done both at the same time so less pain.

"It's the parents' decision and if they grow to hate them the holes in their ears will hardly be gaping ones.(sic)"

The news comes after Katie asked the audience on chat show 'Loose Women', where she is a guest panelist, whether she should allow her daughters to get their ears pierced.

She said: "Princess wants her ears pierced at the weekend and Bunny does, do you thinks she should get them, she's eight?"

The audience mainly agreed it was fine for Princess, but when she asked if Bunny should be allowed to get her ears pierced she was met with a largely negative reaction.
