George Kay, 35, will be forced to stand before a judge next month following charges of assault by beating and unlawful possession of a stun gun disguised as a torch after the Atomic Kitten singer allegedly sustained bruises to her face following a row at their home in Crowborough, East Sussex.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police told the MailOnline: "A man has been charged in connection with a domestic incident in Crowborough earlier this month.

"Just after 6pm on Saturday, October 3, police were called to an address in Gorsedene Close to a report that a 35-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted.

"George Kay, 35, a labourer of Warrington, answered bail on Saturday evening and was charged with assault by beating and possession of a prohibited weapon."

The sportsman is set to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court in East Sussex on November 26.

Meanwhile, Kerry, 35, has since announced her decision to divorce George, with whom she has 17-month-old daughter Dylan, after 11 months of marriage following the incident.
