The 38-year-old actress welcomed her first child Isabelle into the world 18 months ago with her husband Nnamdi Asomugha and has admitted she never expected things to change the way they did when the little one arrived.

Speaking to 'Entertainment Tonight,' she said: "You know it [motherhood] just turns your world upside down in the most beautiful way. She [Isabelle] makes me better, I hope, every day. I feel very lucky to be her mum."

And the 'Scandal' star certainly has lots of support as she's not afraid to ask her famous friends for parenting advice.

She said: "I called up Connie Britton, who adopted her son when she started 'Nashville'. I emailed Jessica Alba. I have all these girls I have known for a long time. now we have a new chapter in our lives we can share ideas about."

Meanwhile, the brunette beauty may be forced to leave her daughter in the capable hands of her carer when she's at work but she has admitted she doesn't feel guilty.

She said previously: "Women use this 'guilt' word a lot, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I know why it's the word that keeps coming up, but I can't co-sign on it yet.

"There has got to be a better way. You can't be all things to all people all the time, you have to experience your humanity, you have to know you are a limited vessel, and you can only do so much."
