Kristen Bell accidentally dyed her dog brown.
The 'Veronica Mars' star was forced to bathe her smelly pet pooch, Mr. Shakes, in a potent solution, which inadvertently changed the colour of his coat from black to brown, after he was sprayed by a stinky skunk.
She explained: "It was the middle of the night and it was Mr. Shakes. He went out through the dog door and he came back in. It was like two in the morning and I woke up to Dax [Shepard, her husband] going [coughs] and I was like, 'What's going on? What's going on?', and he was like, 'We're asphyxiating, we're asphyxiating!'
"I have had dogs my whole life and I have never ever smelled anything like this. I think he crawled out of the skunk's intestines or something. This was a battle and they were face to face. It was all over his face and all over the room."
The stench was so bad the 33-year-old actress had to wash her canine at least 15 times because of the foul ordeal, but she's hopeful his fur will change back to black in time.
Speaking on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', she said: "Now he's OK. I looked it up online and I tried to be very organic about it but that stuff doesn't work. This guy has gotten like 15 baths and I finally had to go the hardcore which is like water, vinegar, soap and hydrogen peroxide. You have to soak it on him.
"The poor thing was just shaking. The only funny thing that came out of it is that he used to be a black dog and now he's a brown dog. He got highlights. He barely smells like skunk anymore but his hair looks fantastic."
