The 30-year-old actress has had to tackle online hate since her recent weight loss and Lena has admitted to being annoyed by the amount of attention her slimmed-down figure has attracted.

She explained: "It's just so crazy because I spent six years of my career being called things like 'bag of milk' on the internet, you know 'baby cow,' 'aging cow.' I just never felt self conscious about it."

But Lena said she tries not to concern herself too much with the views of online trolls.

Speaking on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', Lena shared: "Anyone who's going to take the time to say something negative about my weight on the internet wasn't someone I was particularly keen to impress anyway."

The 'Girls' creator also rubbished claims that her recent weight loss has rendered her a hypocrite.

She recalled: "I had this experience of my body changing and suddenly I had all these people being like, 'you're a hypocrite, I thought you were body positive. I thought you were a person who embraced bodies of all sizes,' and I'm like I do, I just also understand that bodies change, we live a long time, things happen."

And Lena believes that her situation simply proved that women "can't win" in the entertainment industry.

She said: I was frustrated by it because it really was evidence that as a woman in Hollywood, you just can't win."

Earlier this month, Lena said she doesn't "give even the tiniest of s**ts" about what people think of her body.

The 'Girls' star took to Instagram to make an impassioned plea to other women to love their body for what it is.

She wrote: "I feel I've made it pretty clear over the years that I don't give even the tiniest of s**ts what anyone else feels about my body. I've gone on red carpets in couture as a size 14. I've done sex scenes days after surgery, mottled with scars. I've accepted that my body is an ever changing organism, not a fixed entity - what goes up must come down and vice versa. (sic)"
