'Game of Thrones' actress Maisie Williams has revealed she never planned to become a big star.

The 17-year-old star, who appears as Arya Stark in the medieval fantasy series 'Game of Thrones', has revealed she's never harboured especially lofty career ambitions and credits much of her success to good fortune.

Maisie Williams didn't want to

Maisie Williams didn't want to "become a big actress".

She explained: "I didn't want to escape my life and become a big actress and live my dreams.

"That was never the way it was, it was just these amazing opportunities that happened."

However, Maisie conceded there are some negative aspects of fame, particularly having to behave like a role model at such a tender age.

She told the Independent on Sunday newspaper: "To express your views as a 17-year-old and be listened to is wonderful but with that comes great scrutiny and it's difficult to find the balance.

"No one teaches you how to be a famous person; no one teaches you how to be a role model. It's something you have to do on your own."

Maisie explained that her overarching ambition is to be "a realistic role model".

She added: "I am someone who isn't always perfect. But just because you don't do everything by the book doesn't mean that you're not a good person."
