Mariah Carey failed to show up to pre-record her performance for the switching on of the Rockefeller Centre Christmas lights.
Carey kept producers, staff, crew, and fans waiting in the rain for three hours as they prepared to pre-record her performance in New York ahead of the live show. And despite the producers being told that the diva was en-route from her hotel, which was ten minutes away, she never showed.
A source told the New York Daily newspaper's Confidenti@l column: "The diva was supposed to pre-tape her performance of Christmas songs like she's done before.
"The show is live Wednesday, but producers have learned their lesson with her over the years and that they must pre-tape her. She always shows up late. On Tuesday night, she didn't show up at all."
"Her camp kept saying she was ten minutes away, which was technically true because her hotel, The Palace Hotel, where she was staying, is about a 10minute ride away from 30 rock. But she was not en route."
Despite fans waiting patiently to see the singer, producers had no choice but to send them home when Carey was a no-show.
This has also left NBC wondering what they are going to do about the show as they have advertised that Carey is going to be part of the big light switch on - she was expected to be a big draw for the event.
However, Mariah later took to Twitter to apologise to fans claiming the situation was "beyond" her "control" and performed tracks including 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' at the live show.
