Matt Cardle has said that James Arthur is a "deeply unpleasant" person.

The 30-year-old singer - who shot to fame after winning 'The X Factor' in 2010 - insists he "couldn't care less" what the 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You' hitmaker, who won the talent show last year, says about him and claimed he has an inflated ego.

Speaking to radio station Gaydio, Matt - who has clashed with James on several occasions - said: "I'm not going to put an end to this once and for all. I don't think there is going to be an end to this.

"The guy is deeply unpleasant from what I can gather. He has ripped into me in the past. He has been ripping me for about a year now. We had crossed words a year ago, he hasn't dropped it.

"The guy's ego is off the scale and that's all I'll say about him. I have nothing else to say about James Arthur."

The 'Impossible' singer recently branded Matt's songs "music for bedwetters" and insisted the 'When We Collide' hitmaker's material would send his fans to sleep.

Speaking on Radio 1Xtra, James said: "I know it really winds him up when I bite back. He's trying to promote his stuff by taking offence at something I said back when I was on 'The X Factor'.

"I got asked the question, 'Why haven't the male winners done well?' And I said, 'Because the music hasn't been good enough.' I didn't single anyone out, and he took it personally as though I was attacking him. And I wasn't. I was just stating the fact.

"[Matt's] got no heat. His music is pretty drab for me. It's for bedwetters."
