The 52-year-old filmmaker's neighbours were woken this week to the sound of two helicopters circulating his lavish mansion in the celebrity-heavy area of Bel Air and five squad cars after he alerted the emergency services because he felt in "imminent danger" when he thought someone had snuck into his home on the sly.

According to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, the police spent "some time" looking for the intruder in and around the area, which is also home to the likes of Meg Ryan, Jennifer Aniston and Elon Musk, but reportedly failed to find anyone or evidence to suggest that someone had entered Michael's property.

The 'Transformers' director's concerns come just a day after Kendall Jenner had $200,000 worth of jewellery snatched from her mansion in Los Angeles but, although she initially thought someone had broken in while she was at work, police are now exploring the possibility that the crime was carried out by someone who attended a party at her lavish abode on Wednesday night (15.03.17) as there were no signs of forced entry.

The 21-year-old model held a party on Wednesday with a group of friends and although she heard an alarm go, which signalled one of the doors had been opened, she reportedly decided to ignore it.

It was only when she returned home at 1am after an hour out and about that she realised the pricey jewellery had been nicked and called the police to report the incident.

It comes after Kendall's half-sibling Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris last October, something which she recently admitted she fuelled as her social media posts led the robbers to her residence.
