Sir Mick Jagger

Sir Mick Jagger

Sir Mick Jagger is to be a grandfather for the first time.

The Rolling Stones rocker's granddaughter Assisi, 21, and her boyfriend Alex will welcome her first child into the world early next year, her mother Jade - who the 'Brown Sugar' hitmaker had with former wife Bianca - has confirmed.

In a forthcoming interview with the Sunday Times, Jade, 42, said: "It is true. I am going to be a grandmother."

Assisi says her 70-year-old grandfather is thrilled by the news - though he hates being reminded of his age so much, she addresses him by his first name.

She said: "He said, 'Well done'.

"I imagine it's nice to be a great-grandad, although I'm not sure he likes the idea of getting old or being called one.

"I call him Mick - I wouldn't call him grandpa."

And Jade - who also calls her father Mick - doesn't think the new addition to the family will have any impact on how the rocker conducts himself.

She said: "I think making Mick a grandfather obviously had a big impact whereas, now, making him a great-grandfather is no longer particularly fascinating."

The 'Sympathy for the Devil' hitmaker has seven children and four grandchildren.
