Miley has been told to rest by doctors.

Miley Cyrus fans were left disappointed when the 'Wrecking Ball' singer cancelled her show in Charlotte, North Carolina, just 30 minutes before it was due to start.

Concertgoers and their foam fingers were turned away at the doors to the area after organisers wrote on their website: 'Miley Cyrus- CANCELED. Due to illness, Miley Cyrus "Bangerz" tour date scheduled for tonight, April 7, at Time Warner Cable Arena Charlotte has been cancelled. Cyrus has been diagnosed with the flu and doctors have ordered her to rest.'

The news follows a week after Miley's beloved dog Floyd passed away. The 21 year old has been inconsolable and has took to Twitter to express her grief. After her mother presented her with a new puppy Moonie to try comfort the star, Miley tweeted on Friday:

@MileyCyrus: 'I feel physically sick & I am so emotionally and physically exhausted I feel like I have nothing else to give sweet baby Moonie.'

As an exhausted  Miley is told to rest, her fans have took to Twitter to express their anger at the cancelled gig, which is not to be rescheduled.

Anna Van Gurp (@agvangurp) tweeted: 'If Miley hadn't lost all her fans already, she just lost the remaining few.. Cancellation with no reschedule or refunds.. Nice move girl.'

But staff at the arena confirmed all ticket holders would receive a full refund.

Miley is due back on stage for her show in Raleigh, North Carolina, but some fans are concerned about the upcoming dates of her 40 show Bangerz tour.

Hank (@mothermiley) wrote: 'I think the worst feeling in the world is knowing that when (if) i go to my concert on Sunday, Miley literally has no desire to be there.'
