The country singer's divorce from Blake Shelton was finalised last July, following four years of marriage, and she admits it's been a very challenging 12 months.

Writing on her Instagram page, the 'Vice' hitmaker posted: "The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing. Of learning to be honest .... Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles. Finding peace in dark places ... having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings... All of them."

She added: "I got to know my guitars...became friends with a pencil and paper ... Used melodies to lead me places I had never been.... Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine. This means the world to me. Thank you for joining me on this journey."

Miranda is now dating fellow country singer Anderson East, while Blake has moved on with Gwen Stefani after meeting on the set of 'The Voice'.

Blake, 40, recently revealed how he wished he could have gone "into a coma" during his split from Miranda, because he struggled to cope.

He said: "This time last year, there was no light at the end of the tunnel for me personally. There was a point there where I thought I didn't even want to exist anymore.

"I told people I wished I could go into a coma and wake up a year from now."
