Niall Horan hasn't been home since last Christmas.

The 'Perfect' singer and his One Direction bandmates - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne - are set to go on hiatus next year but Niall is looking forward to spending some time with his family and friends before then as their 'On The Road Again' tour is set to travel to his native Ireland later this week.

Niall wrote on Twitter: "Haven't been home since Christmas .. So I'm looking forward to getting home this week to see the fam and the lads .. (sic)."

And Niall's mum and dad aren't the only One Direction parents looking forward to their break from the band as Liam's parents Karen and Geoff recently confessed they can't wait to see him for more than a couple of hours at a time.

Geoff explained: "Nothing can really prepare you for those times when he's not around. In the first year of 1D we used to measure the time we saw him in days, then it went down to hours the bigger they got.

"In the last year it's been minutes, and each one of those is incredibly precious."

Karen added: "[Liam's fame] happened much too quickly for me. There was 'X Factor' and then everything just seemed to explode.

"It was too much to take in, partly because I never believed it would go as mad as it did."

However, while the boys will be parting ways professionally, Niall has revealed they're planning a lads holiday for when they've finished promoting their new album 'Made in the A.M.'

He said previously: "We're fine. We're just taking a rest for a bit - going on holiday, chilling out for a bit. Do a few different things. We'll be back, don't worry."
