The 'Jealous' hitmaker - who recently split from Miss Universe beauty Olivia Culpo - has admitted he still finds fame hard to deal with.

When asked about his international success as both a solo artist and part of the Jonas Brothers, he said: "[The fans come from] all across the spectrum I think. There's no way to really define the age group of the fans.

"People that come up to me and tell me they like the music are far from what it used to be. I'm still getting used to it."

The 22-year-old singer also admitted he hopes his new music will "break down perceptions" about him.

He added to Entertainment Weekly: "The great thing about songs that a large group of people can connect to is that, it sort of breaks down some of the walls of feeling like they can't like it for whatever reason.

"That's been the big goal this last year and a half, to break some of the perceptions down and rebuild."

Meanwhile, Nick previously admitted he didn't think fame was "real" when he was younger.

He shared: "People actually caring who you are dating at 14 is not a normal thing. But my parents are really good people, and they did a good job of helping us keep our heads on straight.

"But also, I think I had a really interesting outlook about it, I never really thought it was real. I just kind of [thought], 'This is all make-believe and I get to go and sing, and that's all I really care about.'"
