Nicki Minaj is to take a break from her career when she eventually has children.

The rapper has been with boyfriend Safaree Samuels for over a decade now, but isn't ready to start a family just yet.

However, inspiration from Beyoncé and her relationship with two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy - fathered by her husband Jay-Z - means she'll be taking a hiatus from music when the time does come.

Speaking to L'Uomo Vogue Magazine, Nicki explained: "I don't want to work my whole life without ever experiencing the joys of a family. The time is not yet ripe, but when I decide to get married and become a mother, I would like to take a hiatus and dedicate myself completely to my child.

"Seeing Beyonce with her daughter and her husband was so tender, and it showed me that it is possible to be an animal on stage and a caring mother at the same time."

At 31 she believes her schedule right now means she's too busy to have children, as she wouldn't be able to spend enough time with them.

"Family has always been very important to me, and that is why I want to wait until the right moment before starting my own. Right now I am too busy, but at a certain point the situation will change."
