The DJ and businesswoman has been friends with the 'Toxic' singer for well over a decade, and has admitted that a now-famous photo of the pair in a car alongside Lindsay Lohan - which was taken 11 years ago - actually came as a result of the 'Mean Girls' actress turning up to their night out uninvited.

Speaking about the snaps in an interview with MTV Australia, Paris said: "Actually it was just Brit and I out, and then she just chased us to the car and got in. She wasn't invited."

It comes after the 36-year-old former reality star took to social media last month to share a snap of herself with Britney, also 36, which was taken in 2006, and which she claims was the first ever selfie.

She wrote alongside the photo: "11 years ago today, Me & Britney invented the selfie! (sic)"

The photo was posted as proof to a claim Paris made back in May this year, when she insisted that she had invented the image capturing trick.

Paris made her bold selfie claim in an interview with W Magazine and also boasted that her rise to fame in the 2000s with her best friend Nicole Richie kick-started the modern day social media celebrity phenomenon.

She said: "If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it. I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera."

Recalling her journey to stardom, she added: "We started a whole new genre of celebrity that no one had ever seen before. Nowadays, I feel like it's so easy becoming famous. Anybody with a phone can do it."
